26 shadow and blush pallette

I was very excited to find this palette on ebay for just £7.00 and only £6.59 for shipping from HK (seller- abestlife). I had seen many reviews of it and was eyeing it up on coastal scents for quite some time, however it was $21.95 on the coastal scents website and shipping prices from there to the UK are always ludicrous. So I ordered this palette along with the 10 blush palette and it came a few days ago. After swatching the shadows I was really looking forward to using them as there were some interesting colours and the payoff was pretty good. I even filmed a tutorial yesterday morning to post on my channel.

However, the shock came when I got home last night. I had been getting a strange headache all evening and my eyes felt sore and puffy. Not thinking anything of it I decided to just get to bed, but when I started taking my eye makeup off I noticed that the skin on my eyelids was red and patchy. I had obviously had an allergic reaction to these shadows and my eyelids were very sore and inflamed. Even this morning they were looking somewhat puffy and discoloured.

I wanted to make this post just to tell you guys to be careful! Of course I know the dangers of buying makeup on the Internet as you can never guarantee it will be of a good quality, especially when the price is so low. So, I guess getting a bargain is not always worth it. Do any of you have this palette and have you had any problems? Please let me know :).

  4. I guess people's skins are very different. I do have the 28 neutral palette and during the time I swatched some of the shadows on my hand I felt a slight itch after a while. When I do put it on my eyelids I also feel a slight itching sensation that subsides after some time.

  7. Natalya - I am so sorry that happened to you. You definitely had an allergic reaction. I have the 28 Neutral Pallet and have not had problems. But I remember having the same reaction to some MAC colors - especially Sketch. Sometimes certain pigmintation will cause you to have reactions not the product itself. I would be careful with using the pallet though.

  9. Sorry to hear about your reaction. I've also ordered this palette and I hope my skin doesn't react to it as sometimes it can be a bit sensitive. Oh yes, just wanted to say that I *think* I saw you today in real life! You were walking up Earls Court Road towards High Sreet Kensington and you were talking on the phone. I recognised you from your fringe and that huge bag you showed us once on a youtube vid. Would've loved to have said hello but I was driving! I was so surprised! x

  10. oh that is just horrible! =( I was just about to purchase this from ebay myself. I wonder if the CS pallettes are safer or if it is all the same =/. I'm just sorry you had to be the experiment. Speedy recovery!! =)

  11. @noga.. yes I have watched it, but I think it has all been blown out of proportion a little. The silica that causes silicosis is in crystal form, (this is the natural form that it is found in when it is mined, which is why they have to wear protective masks), while the cosmetic powder is meant to be in the spherical form, so it should not cause such problems. There are lots of different types of silica, for example sand and it is also used in glass. I have read other articles on this issue and they all point this out :).

  15. Hey Natalya and Noga...I just watched the video too..I think that the sylica issue does not really matter here, I think the point is that CS dont seem to show respect for their customers. Yes, maybe the girl has the sylica information twisted but that doesn't allow CS to call her ignorant.. Oh well, this is just my point of view! Thanks for the link Noga! Natalya: I enjoy this blog and your tutorials as well ;)

  16. That's such a shame, I have this exact same palette is it works perfectly on me, no reaction at all. Hope your eyes are feeling better!
