OOTD: Country Wedding

A few weeks ago the hubby and I attended a lovely country wedding to celebrate the union of our university friends! The wedding was very sweet with lots of homemade aspects and family members arranging flowers and baking cakes to make the newlyweds' special day unique and very personal.
Dress from Reiss (Marte in blue), bag from Chanel, fascinator from TK Maxx, shoes from Melissa.

I wouldn't normally choose jelly shoes for a wedding, but as there was a mile walk from the church to the reception in a marquee with a high likelihood of rain I decided to be very sensible (and waterproof)! They were also super comfy so I could dance into the early hours... and we did!

Being May the evening was very cold so I definitely brought lots of layers - cardigans, scarf and this pretty (also waterproof) laser cut cream trench coat from Warehouse.

Such a lovely day!

OOTD: Well the weather outside is frightful...

The weather outside may be frightful, but sale shopping is delightful!

Returning from the glorious Turkish sunshine to be faced with the typical English summer rain I was feeling a little down - not least because I wasn't able to show off my hard earned tan ;). Between the drizzle, wind and cold I have resigned myself to the fact that summer may be over in England, without ever having really begun.

I always find this type of changeable weather difficult to dress for - you can't afford to go all easy breezy in summer dresses for fear of a downpour, but can't wrap up too warm as you never know when those few elusive rays of sunshine will fight their way through the clouds. So I was very excited when I spotted this little waterproof number in the Warehouse sale. I love the light colour, the short sleeves and the pretty laser cut detailing. It's light enough to keep you cool in the heat and show a little skin, while keeping you dry in the drizzle. Never has such a practical purchase looked so cute!
Coat: Warehouse (now £25!!), Purple Dress: LK Bennett, Shoes: Kurt Geiger.

Have you made any exciting purchases in this summer's sales? xxx

Saturday night da-da-da-dadee-da-da-da

On Saturday I went out for drinks and a little dance in Amika. It was a fun night, though we left quite early as my friend has Law School exams starting today so she had to be well rested. Also, our table was right on the dance floor and it was getting far too hot and crowded. Especially now that it is warmer I really wish someone would catch on and open a club with a sizable outside area (holiday style)!! I am thinking large, white seating area, Moroccan lamps, exotic cocktails... Perhaps i should pitch this idea to someone as there is nothing worse than being couped up in a hot basement on these rare, but lovely warm nights.

Anyway ramble over, I thought I would share with you my outfit for the night as I personally love to see OOTD posts (Gosh, I am a bit of a stalker huh?).I straightened my hair and braided the front. I kept my makeup pretty simple (well, for me) as this dress is a statement colour (more coral than orange in real life). I paired neutral eyes with a bright coral lip to compliment the dress.

Unfortunately my hair is covering it here but the detail at the front of this Warehouse dress is really lovely. The lighter fabric is folded and it creates a great contrast with the smooth skirt of the dress. At the back there is also a black bow, which adds a girly twist to the structured front.

My bag is from FCUK and shoes are from Zara a couple of seasons ago.

Oh and the faux glow is courtesy of Dove moisturiser with a hint of sunless tan. Perfect for those of us with ghostly complexions as it is very subtle, and can be built up over a couple of days to prevent any patches or streaking hazards :).

I wonder how many of you will get the song I am referring to in my title hehe ;).
