OOTD: Lace and Lime

While scrolling through the Topshop website recently I noticed a very familiar looking lace skirt, which is very similar to one I absolutely loved wearing on my honeymoon last Summer!
It's such a gorgeous, versatile piece that can easily take you from day to night. In the photo above I paired it with a simple green camisole, similar to this one from Oasis.
Topshop's latest offering is a lovely cream lace number that's perfect for Spring! You can find it on their website here for £75.

OOTD: Cropped

As I haven't done an OOTD in quite a while (and quite honestly I haven't had the opportunity to dress up in a while either) I thought I would share a few photos from a friend's bday party a few weeks ago. Please be kind!
Laser Cut Crop (with cut out back): Topshop £36, PVC pencil skirt: Topshop (sold out), but similar on Etsy. Booties: Kurt Geiger. Rose gold monogram necklace: Anna Lou.
Hair was styled using my favourite Babyliss Big Hair (£44.99).
I always find it hard to wear neutrals without a tan so I used another of my favourites to give myself a bit of colour - SiennaX Q10 Bronzing Mousse £24.95.

Back to Red (and lace)

You may have noticed that after a brief flirtation with brown locks and a few honey highlights this summer I have now gone back to my preferred hair colour. The red is back and here to stay... or at least it's here till I get bored again ;).
This post however, is about red of a more vibrant hue!
I love the vibrant tone of this playsuit mixed with the delicate detailing of the black lace. It's definitely a bit of a show stopping evening number, especially as it is so short (on me), and a cute alternative to a dress. However, I would say that the fit of this leaves a lot to be desired. The pleats create a lot of volume in the front, which as you can see in the picture below makes a rather unflattering little pouch when looking from the side or sitting down. I just wish it either had more pleats all the way around to create a more flared short, or else had none so it lay flat to the body.

I noticed that even the gorgeous Laura Whitmore had this problem on the XtraFactor, which makes me glad that I'm not alone in my phantom poof!
Even despite this I still think it is a gorgeous piece and looks so much more expensive than it's £50 price tag! If you are interested in checking out this playsuit you can find it on the Topshop website here. They also have a similar style in cream here.

What do you guys think of this little red number? Since these photos were taken I have found a way to tame the pleats with a wide belt to keep the front in place, but if you have any crafty suggestions I'd love to hear your tricks! :). xxx

OOTD: Crochet

This weekend was absolutely beautiful, so the bf and I took full advantage of the stunning weather - walks around the park, frozen yoghurt, seafood and crepes in the sunshine. We couldn't ask for anything more!
Dress: Topshop (£40 here), Belt: Reiss, Bag: Mulberry, Flip Flops: Ted Baker (£35 here), Sunglasses: Fiorelli (similar £15 here).

I bought this dress a few months ago, but this weekend was the first time I have had a chance to show it off. It's such an easy shirt dress to wear and perfect for the hot weather with it's deep cut out back and floaty skirt. Though the top is pretty much see through I decided to pair it with a coral strapless bra to add a bit of colour contrast to the mint belt and handbag.
Do you have any new purchases hiding in your wardrobe waiting for the sun? What pieces will you be investing in this season? I hope you all had a fabulous weekend and are surviving this incredible heat wave! xxx

OOTD: The wedge trainer

After posting a pic of my new purchase on twitter I had lots of lovely responses requesting an outfit of the day post featuring my new shoesies.
If you are a regular visitor to this blog you may have noticed that trainers are not exactly a wardrobe staple for me. This may stem back to the fact that I absolutely lived in the trainer/ jeans combo in my teens until I discovered fashion and the fact that actually I could wear anything I wanted, not the same uniform as all my friends. I will be the first to admit that the wedged trainer is a bit of a ridiculous trend, but as soon as I saw the Isabel Marant number I was immediately lusting after them, quite despite myself. So after much umming and indecision I finally decided to purchase the next best thing - meet my new love The Ash Cool Suede Strapped wedge trainers in clay!
Excuse the awkward pose and face in this photo. We were on our way to the cinema and running late so a quick iphone snap on the stairs was all I could coax from the bf (after the dismal attempt below).
I paired my new super comfy trainers with an equally comfy pair of American Apparel disco pants, a vest from Zara and an oversized boyfriend shirt from Topshop.

I got my Ash trainers from Asos for £139 here, but you can also find them on the Ash website here.

Have you given into the wedge trainer trend? What will you be wearing yours with? xxx

Friday Dinner OOTD

On Friday morning instead of making plans for the weekend I found myself nervously sitting at my office desk staring at an e-mail that had just dropped into my inbox letting me know that the results of my recent law exam were now available online. Eeek! Luckily, I passed (with distinction), and to be honest felt very silly about stressing myself, and probably everyone around me, out during the whole ordeal. To celebrate the bf took me out for dinner at our local Thai restaurant - small, family run, authentic and super friendly. I always make a point of speaking to the waiters in Thai, which embarrasses the boy no end ;).
Leather Jacket: Reiss. Jumper Dress: Topshop. Rose and Skull scarf: Miss Selfridge (£14) Bag: Aspinal. Ballet flats: Primarni ;).
This scarf was a recent purchase and I love it's hot pink colour for spicing up a rather bland outfit. I'm not really a skull print aficionado, but mixing it with a delicate rose print is a subtle contrast that won me over. xxx

OOTD - Newly Minted

The first ray of Sun this weekend made me giddie with excitement. Spring has finally decided to spring! Putting aside my coat I decided to ditch the layers in favour of something lighter and brighter.
This asymmetric bell sleeve tunic from Topshop makes a perfect transition piece into Spring. I love the delicate mint green and kimono inspired sleeves.
Since the top has so much volume and movement I paired it with leather(esque) trousers from Oasis. The Sun didn't do these any favours, they thankfully didn't look nearly as shiny in person!
Thigh high boots (ZARA) aren't something I would ever wear in the day, but I thought they would be quite fun for picture purposes.. and to scare the passers by.
My necklace is from Talullah Tu, purchased about a year ago it's unfortunately no longer on the site, but here are plenty more that I am eyeing up! ;).

I have previously also paired this top with a Reiss mint belt to cinch in the waist and add a little more shape.

Are you as excited as I am for Spring? What are your key fashion pieces for the new season? xxx

P.S. If you ever wanted to see what my hair is like left naturally to its own wild ways.. tah dah! Curly Wurly!
